Spellings
Spellings are posted onto class dojo and our class page and in a paper copy. Spelling tests days are shared on Dojo. We encourage children to learn the spelling rule to help them with their spellings. Some children are part of our Little Wandle phonics groups and get given the spellings in that session instead.
PE
Days of the week are shared on class Dojo pages.
Reading Books
Reading books need to be taken home every night and when possible children should read aloud for at least ten minutes. Parents or carers are encouraged to record this in their children’s reading record, which helps us decide when books can be changed. When they have read three times, they will move along the reading race board. This encourages reading at home.
Homework
Homework in years 3 and 4 is focused around reading at home, spellings and multiplication practice. All children in Key Stage 2 have access to Times Tables Rockstars. If you need a reminder of your child’s login then please contact the class teacher. Additional homework is sometimes posted on Class Dojo and children can complete this if they would like.
Keeping up-to-date
If you would like to keep up-to-date and see what your children are doing in Class then head straight to Class Dojo. We post homework, spellings and our termly plans on there too.
We update this regularly with class stories and photos. Everyone has a unique access code and you can see how your children are rewarded!
We also use Twitter @stgilesacademy and Facebook.
Promoting Independence
To promote independence we expect children to enter the classroom independently. If you need to speak to the Class Teacher, please leave a message with the school office. If your concern is around a safeguarding, SEND or inclusion matter than you can message Mrs Firth, Mrs Winwood or Mrs Houchin on Dojo.
