Thank you for visiting our class page, my aim as the year 3 teacher is to ensure your child is happy and ready to learn. I believe in the importance of an open door policy, if you have any queations or concerns please do not hesitate to come and see.

Important Information.

Planners

It is very important that children bring their planner to school every day. We would appreciate your co-operation in signing and reading through this weekly. Planners are checked and children are reminded if they have not been signed. Important information and communication will be shared through the planner as well as ClassDojo.

Homework

Each Monday homework will be sent home and to be returned the following Monday. The homework that is sent out corresponds with what we have been doing in class the previous week. This is an opportunity to share what we have been learning, the work could either be a maths, grammar, or comprehension along with the weekly spellings.

Reading

This year in class 3 we are holding 2 reading races.

1) When your child reads 3 times a week they will move up a station (there are 15 in total). Once they have reached station 15 they will receive a prize.

2) When your child has read 5 times total they will receive a small prize.

When you read with your child for 5-10 minutes a day 3 times a week you will see a massive improvement in their reading. Please ensure you are recording in your child’s planner when they are reading so they can move up the races.

PE Kits

P.E. kits will be needed in school on a Monday and remain in school until Friday, children require both outdoor and indoor Kits due to unpredictable weather conditions.

Please ensure your child has a pair of trainers and socks in their PE bags as school shoes could get ruined if worn for PE.

Recommended Reading

As I am sure you are aware, as well as being an enjoyable pastime, reading impacts hugely on children’s writing ability and general learning. We encourage children to read as much as possible, both at home and in school. Here are some personal favoruites and we have included a link to a website that outlines further books for your little book worms!

We have a bookshelf/reading area in class and school library where children are welcome to take books home to read. They are also invited to bring books from home in to read for pleasure! Our local library in Pontefract is amazing and we work closely with them throughout the year - if you would like any information on how you can use the library further please don't hesitate to ask us or visit the library in town.
