Homework for Autumn A

 Important Information.

It is very important that children bring their planner to school every day. We would appreciate your co-operation in signing and reading through this weekly. Planners are checked and children are reminded if they have not been signed. Important information and communication will be shared through the planner as well as ClassDojo.

Each Friday homework will be sent home on class dojo, if you require a paper copy please let me know. the homework is to be sent to dojo or returned the following Friday. The homework that is sent out corresponds with what we have been doing in class that week. This is an opportunity to share what we have been learning, the work could either be a maths, grammar, or comprehension along with the weekly spellings.

Please make sure you are recording when you have read with your child so they can move up the reading race. Your child will be entered into a jar each time they read and a name will be pulled out at random on a Friday afternoon and they will win a small prize. Once your child has read 10 times they will also receive a prize.

Please ensure your child comes to school in the school PE kit (Red embroidered T-shirt and plain black jogging bottoms/leggings or shorts)

There are three groups for spellings (Green, Blue and Red) your child’s group will be stuck in their planner at the start of the half term)

 blue Group Spellings for website.pdfDownload
 Green Group Spellings for website.pdfDownload
red group spelling overview for year.pdfDownload

Autumn A Medium Term Plan

Here is where you can find a bit more detail into what we will be learning in Class 3 this half term.

Recommended Reading

As I am sure you are aware, as well as being an enjoyable pastime, reading impacts hugely on children’s writing ability and general learning. We encourage children to read as much as possible, both at home and in school. Here are some personal favoruites and we have included a link to a website that outlines further books for your little book worms!

We have a bookshelf/reading area in class and school library where children are welcome to take books home to read. They are also invited to bring books from home in to read for pleasure! Our local library in Pontefract is amazing and we work closely with them throughout the year - if you would like any information on how you can use the library further please don't hesitate to ask us or visit the library in town.

Picture Book - The secret of Black Rock - By Joe Todd-Stanton

Funny Book - Charlie Changes into a Chicken by Sam Copeland

Adventure Book - The Boy Who Grew Dragons by Andy Shepherd

Poetry Book - The Day I Fell Down the Toilet and other Poems by Steve Turner

Non-Fiction Book - Lots by Marc Martin

Classic Book - Georges Marvellous Medicine (Any Roald Dahl Book!)

Water bottles

We will send water bottles home every day due to bottles not being able to be cleaned properly in school. Children can rinse out and refill bottles during the week with fresh drinking water.

Times Tables Rockstars

Every child in Class 3 will have their own login for Times Tables Rockstars. It is a website and app that can be used at home and at school to practice speedy recall of times table facts. It is fun and competitive. The children can challenge each other, teachers and even Mr Grace! The login details and password can be found in the front page of your child's planner. In year 3 the children should be fluent and have rapid recall of their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times table by the end of year. Once they are confident with these we like them to learn their 6 x tables.
